Wow. Has it been one awesome journey. I worked here for around 4 months and a bit, but I've made so many memories that it still seems a bit weird to think that it's all over now. Working here had its ups and downs, but doesn't life always? The bad memories loses compared to the mountain of great ones. The pay wasn't all that great, but the friends were.
At first, I didn't even want to work in a F&B store. I originally wanted to try a clothing store, or something else - one that doesn't involve me being a waitress. It was all a bit of a misunderstanding, but as soon as we came out of Pizza Hut that day, I had a job. I had to take responsibility as a new staff, even if it wasn't what I had in mind.
First day of work - I met the three managers. They were definitely different. The first impressions I had of them had totally changed as time moved on. One had even managed to annoy me so much - but I see him as a trusted friend more than just a manager. I liked how they treated the other staffs as equals, we can mess about with them and joke around without having to worry about anything.
I met 3 staffs there - 2 of which are like family to me now. Soon afterwards, some had left, some returned, other new staffs came, and another few had quit the job. One thing's for sure though, you'll meet plenty of new people there. They come and go, but you'll always end up keeping the friendship alive even when they're not there any more.
There was another new staff who had started working on the same day as me, who you will see pretty much of in the video. She's has the most open-no-filter-I-can-do-what-I-want-don't-mess-with-me attitude that you can find in anyone. And now, she's one of my closest friends.
The first month was horrible for me. I didn't have the most outgoing self-confident attitude out there, so I had found it hard to adapt. I even wanted to quit. It isn't as easy as everyone thinks - trust me. I used to feel very agitated whenever I am in a restaurant and something doesn't get served as I expect it to. However, I can't even seem to recall the exact point of when everything changed. I started liking the job more and more, and even found myself trying hard to compete in some of the mini-challenges they had. I found myself being chosen as a Service Hero a couple of times in the restaurant, and even getting a certificate for being a 'hero' throughout the country. After leaving my part-time job in August, my friend and I were chosen to present the new products along with Wak Doyok and Elfira Loy.
They were all good memories, but the bests ones are meeting my for-life friends. It shows that even if you feel that you won't like something, even if it's something you are very much against - sometimes it won't stay that way forever. You might even find yourself liking them - like me. Whatever it is, give it a chance and don't give up.
